Yes, both of those are "capacitors" being used as "suppressors".

No, I wouldn't connect a charger to battery while the battery was still connected. To much fancy electronics in a modern car to risk it.

How do you know it's the tender that's died and not the batt ...

I'm sure it would be easier to sell if it didn't have all those extra bits of plastic etc added, inside and out.

Many potential buyers will IMO be looking for an "unmolested" car.

Brake squeal is the pad vibrating against the disc (assuming you've got some friction material on the pad, otherwise it's metal meeting metal!)

Shims behind the pad are intended to damp out the vib ...

Things that occur to me,

* Bigger door mirrors on the Euro cars
* Headlamp washers on all the Euro cars
* US imports will almost certainly have an aftermarket switch for rear fog lamp
