Dead battery, power window closing.

Hi, I took delivery of my first c3 today, a 74 coupe. It had a dead battery, and the drivers window is down and canít close it. Iíve had the battery on charge for a while, but looks like the battery might be toast. Is there a way to close the window without power? Iíve got the door card off but nothing obvious.

Cheers, tim.

Is the battery in the car showing a voltage below which the charger will not recharge it (see charger handbook if you have one)? Had that problem myself the other week (stupidly let it run down).

Solved by attaching discharged battery in car to a good battery with jump leads, leaving it for a while, and then attaching the charger on discharged car battery with jump leads/good battery still connected. Disconnected jump leads/good battery when discharged car battery showing a voltage at which the charger will charge it. (Thanks Tayna batteries for the advice/tip. Hi, yes, I had it on charge for quite a while, and it didnít recover at all, although charger was showing a 4A draw. I might give that a go regards spare battery, I have a large leisure battery I can use.
Thanks for the heads up, I was going to go to Euro Car Parts and buy one tomorrow, £120. Surprised

Did it work? My Lidl (or Aldi?) version of a CTEK, won't recharge a battery that's showing below 3.8V per the handbook.

A Ctek is a battery conditioner not a charger.
You would need a proper battery charger for that.

Hi, no, I couldnít recover the dead battery, so bought a new one. Worth a try though.

Mine does both, including a mode specifically for AGM batteries, like my Optima Red Top on the C6. Here's some CTEKs that are chargers and conditioners:

My latest Ctek has a reconditioning setting which has successfully recovered some totally flat batteries which are still performing well months later so well worth it, in fact when my C3 arrived from the states the battery was flat, had to use a jump pack to get it off the trailer, the Ctek recovered the battery and 2 years later it still holds charge over the winter with plenty to start the car from hibernation.
