Head Unit Replacement

Another vote for custom exotics and Brett he did mine in C5 , he got my unit working with my C6 steering wheel controls that they custom fit into my C5.. And they fabricated my console so it fits ... Unit is Chinese , however 3 years in had no issues.. USB , sd card inputs connects to Windows phone and IPhone .. Reversing camera, DVD , put co pilot app on for sat nav , cost £10 for the app and it's brilliant..I've put a corvette wallpaper on so it looks like it's OEM... Make is called pumpkin I think, and can get it on amazon , about £300 ... Two of my mates bought this after seeing mine.. My mate got an update version that has DAB on it.. CE fit mine and another guys same unit.. They know it well..

The guys at CE are doing the fit for me, so all good. Have heard great things about them! Pumpkin doesn't seem to run CarPlay, so not useful for me unfortunately. Found a good Kenwood, so will be getting that instead.

Just a quick update for anyone that is interested in upgrading head units in the future....I've managed to source all the parts from the UK in the end, including the PAC interface. I got in touch with the parent company (AAMP Group) and their European headquarters is in Hampshire. They were really quick to respond and happily gave a list of local retailers that I could order the product through.

The facias that Custom Exotics recommended for a C6 (Metra 95-3304 or Scosche GM1595B) can be ordered from Amazon. I got a Metra delivered next day for £7.

Then it's just the head unit itself (as I've been led to believe!). Looking forward to getting the unit installed in the next few weeks!

Just seen this thread so probably a little late to contribute.

When I decided to update the unit in my C6 a year ago it was going to be a toss-up between Custom Exotics or Huets in Shoreham. In the end I went to Huets; they fitted a Kenwood DNX5160DAB with a reversing camera and parking sensors. They sourced everything and did a first rate job including the steering wheel controls. Not cheap (£1,835) but I suppose you get what you pay for and I'm very happy with it.

Has anyone on here installed one of the cheap Chinese head units? They seem too good to be true.

Has anyone tried cleaning the original cd laser? There's a link on the US Corvette Forum to www.toquez06.com/stereo.html with a step by step guide to doing this. I've only had my C5 for a month but am thinking of trying this to maintain the originality.
