Tyres

Hi All
I am thinking of putting tubes in my new tyres, because the 1980 C3 rims are now 38 years old (albeit they look in pristine condition).
Has anybody got experience of this?

Re: Tyres

It's not recommended to put inner tubes in radial tyres because the internal ribbing rubs on the tube causing friction and heat build up. Info. on google search

Having a lot of bhp is all very well, but on these forums it's torque that counts

Re: Tyres

I have not heard of a C3 stock alloy having material degredation that causes the wheel to be porous.

If you are losing air from a tyre you need to address the cause and not by inner tubes.

No, not a good idea, to run tubes, many moons ago, I once got conned into it, on a Range Rover that was supposedly running tubeless on tyres meant for tubes (rim edges can be different for tubed / tubeless tyres)

I paid for the process of fitting the 4 tubes, re-balancing and buying the tubes - Two weeks later following two full deflations caused by inner friction, I was back paying again saying take them out and put some tubeless valves back in.

Re: Tyres

Might be worthwhile looking further in to age of tyres - older tyres would certainly have a potential for degrading materials and possible loss or pressure.
