Euro versions switch between MPH and Km/h which also changes all the other readouts between Imperial (or English as the yanks call it) and Metric.

The C5 was a huge engineering leap forward from all the corvettes before it. There has not been another such leap in Corvette engineering since until the current development of the mid-engined C8.

Re: Potential new C5 owner - some basic questions

Hi guys

Thanks for your replies. I was very confused as this topic seemed to have disappeared for a while.

Anyway, I went to see the car but decided I didn't need another V8. Only joking, I saw it, loved it, and after a lot of soul-searching and a little man maths, I decided to go for it and picked it up on Thursday. I've only driven it at rush hour on the M25, then on the M11 in the pouring rain, so not really had chance to get a good feel for it, but loving the looks and the feel of finally owning some American muscle.

Cheers

Tim

Re: Potential new C5 owner - some basic questions

Sorry for the slowest reply ever but I've been busy and took a while to get going with the Corvette. I lost a few weeks due to transferring the previous owners private plate off the car and replacing with my own, then pranged it coming out of the garage (gauling but expertly repaired by custom exotics).

I've still only done 400 miles in the car and have found there's a lot of cabin noise (I think the seal on the passenger windscreen/door may need some adjustment), the exhaust is a bit boomy, the auto gearbox isn't the best (I know, it's 20 years old) and LHD in the UK is going to take more getting used to than I expected But just look at it! I know the modifications by the previous owner may not be to everybody's taste but I love what he's done and that was a big factor in me buying it. I love the power and the fact it keeps pulling at high speeds, and despite the previous comment I love the LHD experience - if you're going to do it, do it properly.

Custom exotics also fitted a new android head unit and next on the list is an upgrade to the speakers which are terrible. Any advice? I'm not looking to spend a fortune and don't have a clue what I need to do.

Now if I can just work out how to post up a pic...!

Is it possible to post up pics from one's phone? I don't do Instagram or photobucket etc
