Brake dust

Anyone changed pads which donít cake up your alloys on a weekly basis and give same performance or better? Cleaning the wheels is becoming very tedious.

Re: Brake dust

I didn't see a reference as to what vehicle you are referring to, but I have personally changed out 10 sets of OEM pads to ceramic Powerstops for C7 Stingrays, Grand Sports, and Z06's.

It's like a 180, from almost a daily wipe-down to hardly no dust for hundreds of miles driving.

Also excellent for track use, noticed no difference in braking between the originals and Powerstops.

Re: Brake dust

I changed to Hawk HP Plus pads on my C3 years ago - minimal dust - or - I don't use the brakes that much.....

I'm rather a fan of EBC and use Yellowstuff in my C5 which I think is very good with quite a reasonable amount of dust. I have also found Autoglym Wheel Protector to be highly effective. It is almost miraculous in its ability to throw off brake dust and keep the wheels clean. Might be worth a try.......

Hi, sorry as I was posting in the c7 section I automatically assumed it would be obvious the question was for c7s. Grand sport in particular if it makes any difference between the various variants.

Thx Iíll look into powerstops.

Re: Brake dust

No my mistake, I'll blame it on not being too observant. The Stingray pads are different from the others, GS & Z06 take the same pads.

While at VIR in Nov '17, the club had the opportunity to run flat out for 10 laps or so, because a few of us were contemplating switching out pads, another club member and myself did an unscientific comparison of brake dust build-up before we went on the track. We wiped the wheels clean before the run, then compared immediately after........what a difference.

My buddy had the Carbotech Ceramic pads, I had the Powerstops..........big difference.
