My window switches have for sometime been inoperative for some strange reason, not sure exactly how but one day they worked and the next they refused...?
I bought new Circuit relay and Breaker, fitted the breaker which was the easy bit but having trouble identifying and locating the Relay. Is it inside the engine bay and accessible or is it inside behind the dash?
I have proved that the motors inside the door work as I rigged a wire from the battery to the motor and the window switch on the centre console worked as it does normally and I was able to move the windows up and down.
If anyone can help me with this I would be very grateful. Banghead

ah, a fellow '74 owner!

I may be wrong but I think the window relay is located under the centre console - so it can be a pain to get at.

You will need to remove the facia plate on top of the centre console (the one around the gear lever etc so undo the gear knob too!) then you should be able to see it mounted onto the reinforcement bracket towards the engine as you look from passenger compartment into the space under the front of the console.

Hope that solvves the problem - otherwise also check the wiring connections to the switched themselves, although unlikely both would stop working at the same time.

Re: Power Windows

Dear C3 Rag top,
Thanks for the information, I tried on the right side of the console removing the little side cover as the Haynes manual suggested but to no avail, I will give the whole centre panel another shot and try and remove a bit more... like you say, v. fiddly!
Appreciate your reply and time.

Thumbs up Aarons right about the location of the relay, just looked at an old pic of my console and the little blighter is nestled in there quite nicely..top left of the heater controls in the pic, with the pink/black, orange/black and red/white wires.. Skep

Yup, definately under the console. The switches can be a weak spot too, the way the wiring is plugged to the underside can be iffy. You can buy new "tails" for the harness though if needs be. But if both stopped working at the same time I'd say you're looking in the right places.
